Trump’s Charity Toward None
Throughout his presidency, Donald Trump has been criticized for his lack of charitable giving compared to other presidents. In fact, Trump has been known to have a history of not fulfilling his promised donations to various charities, leading many to question his true intentions when it comes to giving back.
One of the most glaring examples of Trump’s lack of charity is his failure to fulfill his promise to donate $1 million to veterans’ organizations during a fundraiser he held in Iowa in 2016. Trump had claimed that he had raised over $6 million for veterans, but it was later revealed that he had only donated a fraction of that amount and had failed to fulfill his promise to donate $1 million of his own money.
Additionally, Trump’s charitable foundation, the Trump Foundation, was forced to shut down in 2018 after an investigation by the New York Attorney General’s office found that the foundation had engaged in a pattern of illegal conduct. The investigation revealed that Trump had used the foundation’s funds to settle legal disputes, purchase personal items, and support his presidential campaign, among other things.
Furthermore, Trump’s tax returns have shown that he has donated very little of his own money to charity over the years. In fact, in 2017, it was reported that Trump had only donated $10,000 of his own money to charity, despite claiming to be a generous philanthropist.
Trump’s lack of charitable giving stands in stark contrast to other presidents, such as Barack Obama and George W. Bush, who have been known for their extensive charitable work both during and after their presidencies. Obama, for example, donated over $1 million of his Nobel Peace Prize money to various charities, while Bush has been actively involved in numerous charitable organizations, including his own foundation, the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
In conclusion, Trump’s charity toward none has been a defining characteristic of his presidency. His failure to fulfill his promises to donate to veterans’ organizations, the illegal activities of his charitable foundation, and his minimal personal donations to charity all point to a lack of genuine concern for giving back to those in need. As Trump’s presidency comes to an end, it is clear that his legacy when it comes to charitable giving will be one of disappointment and skepticism.
