Trump Promised to Release His Medical Records. He Still Won’t Do It.
Throughout his presidency, Donald Trump has been notorious for his lack of transparency when it comes to his personal information. One area where this lack of transparency is particularly concerning is in regard to his medical records.
During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump promised to release his medical records, stating that he would do so if he were elected. However, nearly four years into his presidency, Trump has yet to fulfill this promise.
This lack of transparency is troubling, especially considering Trump’s age and the fact that he is the oldest person ever elected to a first term as president. Trump’s health has been a topic of speculation ever since he took office, with concerns about his weight, diet, and mental acuity being raised by both his critics and his supporters.
In the past, Trump has been less than forthcoming about his health. In 2015, his personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, released a letter claiming that Trump would be the “healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” However, Bornstein later admitted that Trump himself had dictated the letter, and that he had not conducted a thorough examination of the then-candidate.
Since then, Trump has released very little information about his health. In 2018, he underwent a physical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but the results were not made public. And in May of this year, Trump claimed to be taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventative measure against COVID-19, despite the fact that there is no evidence to support its effectiveness in that regard.
The American public has a right to know about the health of their president, especially when that president is an older individual with a history of questionable health practices. Trump’s continued refusal to release his medical records only serves to fuel speculation and conspiracy theories about his health.
It is time for Trump to fulfill his promise and release his medical records. The American people deserve to know the truth about the health of their president, and Trump owes it to them to be transparent about this important issue. Until he does so, questions will continue to linger about his fitness to serve as the leader of the country.
